THERE ARE tracts in my life that are bare and silent. They are the open spaces where my busy days had their light and air.

THE BLUE OF the sky longs for the earth's green,
the wind between them sighs, 'Alas.'

       টেরিটি বাজারে তার
            সন্ধান পেনু--
       গোরা বোষ্টমবাবা,
          নাম নিল বেণু।
শুদ্ধ নিয়ম-মতে
  মুরগিরে পালিয়া,
গঙ্গাজলের যোগে
  রাঁধে তার কালিয়া--
     মুখে জল আসে তার
          চরে যবে ধেনু।
     বড়ি ক'রে কৌটায়
          বেচে পদরেণু।
