স্বপ্ন দেখেছিনু প্রেমাগ্নিজ্বালার
সুন্দর চুলের, সুগন্ধি মালার,
তিক্ত বচনের, মিষ্ট অধরের,
বিমুগ্ধ গানের, বিষণ্ণ স্বরের।
সে-সব মিলায়ে গেছে বহুদিন,
সে স্বপ্নপ্রতিমা কোথায় বিলীন।
শুধু সে অনন্ত জ্বলন্ত হুতাশ
ছন্দে বন্ধ হয়ে করিতেছে বাস।
তুমিও গো যাও, হে অনাথ গান,
সে স্বপ্নছবিরে করগে সন্ধান।
দিলাম পাঠায়ে, করিতে মেলানী,
ছায়া-প্রতিমারে বায়ুময়ী বাণী।

ভিমরুলে মৌমাছিতে হল রেষারেষি,
দুজনায় মহাতর্ক শক্তি কার বেশি।
ভিমরুল কহে, আছে সহস্র প্রমাণ
তোমার দংশন নহে আমার সমান।
মধুকর নিরুত্তর ছলছল-আঁখি--
বনদেবী কহে তারে কানে কানে ডাকি,
কেন বাছা, নতশির! এ কথা নিশ্চিত
বিষে তুমি হার মানো, মধুতে যে জিত।

I KNOW NOT from what distant time thou art ever coming nearer to meet me. Thy sun and stars can never keep thee hidden from me for aye.
In many a morning and eve thy footsteps have been heard and thy messenger has come within my heart and called me in secret.
I know not why to-day my life is all astir, and a feeling of tremulous joy is passing through my heart.
It is as if the time were come to wind up my work, and I feel in the air a faint smell of thy sweet presence.
